WHERE IS THE RACE?
DashKCK is held at Beatrice Lee Community Center & Big 11 Lake Park, 1310 N. 10th Street in Kansas City, Kansas. Map located here.
HOW DO I REGISTER?
Online, or you can register in person at the race location from 7:30-8:15am with cash or
credit card only.
WHERE DOES MY REGISTRATION FEE GO TO?
Registration fees are kept low so that there are not excess race proceeds. All race proceeds are spent on DashKCK with the intent of benefiting the community as a whole with a healthy lifestyle event. However, any excess proceeds from either sponsorship or registration fees will go to Downtown Shareholders.
WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE BEFORE THE RACE?
We recommend that you arrive at Beatrice Lee Community Center no later than 8:00 a.m. You will want to allow time to get pick up your bib, stretch and meet other participants, etc. You can arrive as early as 7:30 a.m.
CAN I REGISTER ON THE DAY OF THE RACE?
Yes. Registration tables will be open at 7:30 a.m. and will remain open until 8:15 a.m. for registration and general information. A Limited number of day-of race registrations are available.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I REGISTER & PAY AND I GET INJURED OR SICK OR I DON’T ATTEND THE RACE? CAN I GIVE MY ENTRY TO SOMEONE ELSE, OR GET MY MONEY BACK?
Sorry, this is a community event and all entries are non-refundable and non-transferable. No exceptions and thank you for your understanding.
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE TO PARTICIPATE?
This is a family event so all ages are welcome to register and attend.
CAN I RUN WITH MY DOG?
Rrfff! (Translation- YES!) Dogs are allowed on the race course.
DO YOU ALLOW BABY JOGGER/STROLLERS?
Yes, but for everyone’s safety they must start at the back of the race field.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I CAN RUN/WALK THE 5K?
The 5K course is approximately 3.1 miles. If you can run for 25-30 min or walk for an hour or so you should have no problem covering that distance.
DO I HAVE TO BE A RUNNER TO PARTICIPATE?
Of course not. We will have many walkers who will take part in the event.
I’M A VERY SLOW RUNNER. CAN I STILL RUN THE RACE?
Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome. If you’re relatively slow, however, you should stay towards the right hand side of the course. Be sure not to stop suddenly or veer into the paths of other runners. If you’re running with friends, run no more than two abreast. Doing this will keep traffic on the course moving smoothly.
IS THE DashKCK A TIMED EVENT?
Yes, the 5K race is a timed event. All event participants will receive a timing tag to attach to their race bib. The tag is activated when you cross the start line mat and stops timing when you cross over the finish line mat. There is no timing chip to return.
WHEN WILL RACE RESULTS BE POSTED?
The results will be posted in three places:
1. The DashKCK website
2. The Race Day Timing website
3. On-site at 10:00 a.m. for the awards ceremony
IS THE COURSE CLOSED TO TRAFFIC?
No, the 5K course is NOT closed to traffic. Please be mindful of your surroundings in case of any emergencies. Police will be available at major crossings for your safety, and the route is well marked and lined with volunteers to help guide you.
IS WATER AVAILABLE ON THE COURSE?
Yes, there will be one water station located at the half-way point along the 5K course. Additional refreshments are available at the start/finish line.
